Download any video from a tweet or thread as 1080p MP4, or save GIFs and images from your timeline.
Twitter is a real-time social network where content appears and disappears in your Timeline at lightning speed. Whether it’s a viral video clip from a Trending topic, a long-form Thread of tweets with embedded media, or a live audio broadcast from Spaces, you might want to keep a local copy for later reference. Our downloader extracts the original media files attached to Tweets — video, GIF, or image — and saves them in their original quality, up to 1080p for video. No login is required for public Tweets, and there’s no DRM to bypass. Here’s exactly what you can expect when downloading from Twitter.
Every public Tweet can contain up to four attached images or a single video (including animated GIFs). When you paste a Tweet URL into the downloader, the tool identifies all attached media and presents them for download. Because Twitter stores all videos as H.264/AAC MP4 files, you get a compatible format that plays on virtually any device. The maximum resolution for video is 1080p (1920×1080), though some older Tweets may only offer 720p or 480p variants. Twitter compresses GIFs into MP4 (which reduces file size while preserving motion), but the platform also serves static images as JPG or PNG with no recompression — what you see on screen is what you get.
Typical file examples:
1. https://twitter.com/example/status/123456 → video_123456.mp4 (1080p, H.264)
2. https://twitter.com/example/status/789012 → img_789012.jpg (2048×1152)
3. https://twitter.com/example/status/345678 → gif_345678.mp4 (720p, silent)
Retweets simply repost the original Tweet; our downloader follows the chain back to the source. If a user Retweets a video, we download the original video, not a duplicate. However, if a Tweet contains multiple images, only the images attached to that specific Tweet are saved — accompanying text is not included. Likes do not affect downloadability; public Tweets remain accessible regardless of Like count.
Twitter Spaces are live audio conversations. While Spaces are not recorded by default, some hosts enable replay. Our downloader can capture the audio stream from a Spaces replay URL (which is essentially a HLS stream). The output is a single MP3 file encoded at 64 or 128 kbps (depending on the original). Note that Spaces replays are only available if the host explicitly turned on recording, and they expire after 30 days. Also, interactive elements like emoji reactions or hand-raises are not saved.
Despite no DRM, some Tweets are still not downloadable:
- Protected (Private) Tweets: Accounts with locked Tweets require login and authorization. Our downloader cannot access them because Twitter’s API blocks unauthenticated requests.
- Age-Gated Tweets: Tweets flagged as sensitive (e.g., adult content) are hidden behind a warning click-through. While the media URLs are still accessible, very explicit content may be blocked at the CDN level for certain regions.
- Deleted Tweets: Once a Tweet is removed by the user or Twitter, the media is no longer served.
- Tweets from Suspended Accounts: Media may be orphaned, but we cannot retrieve it.
- High-Volume API Limits: While we don’t require a login, excessively rapid downloading from many Tweets may trigger temporary rate limits from Twitter’s APIs.
