When you view an illustration in your browser, Pixiv typically loads a compressed JPEG version (often downscaled to 1200px on the long edge) for faster display. However, the platform also stores the original uploads—often at much higher resolutions, sometimes exceeding 4000px—in formats like PNG or JPEG. Not every image has a public original link; artists can disable "Download Original" in their settings.
